Sketching and analysis. I went with an idea and accepted every accident (the shape of the head, the aurora).

I want to invest more into learning how to draw and paint, because my ambition is above my skills.

I can see my own lack of grasp of anatomy, even if this is just a fantasy sketch. Also, in a real illustration, the character would be in a better spot, taking care of balance and other design rules.

Maybe this kind of sketching is about getting an idea out, then taking this sketch and applying the skills of the trade to it? As opposed to a drawing, which is the finished, or rather polished piece.

Dreaming of Gigerian airbrush landscapes, shapes and volumes, I can see these influencing my tastes in my own sketch here quite a bit.
