My designs take time. I need time to make them as good as I need them to be. Same with my practice. My study. My lab, and my workshop. Wrote about that, too, in German, on my website, inspired by a quote by a mutual on Threads. Quoted her too. Wanna read it?

    @mariobreskic 🔁:

I actually want to create a slow‑paced environment, because my work takes a lot of time (graphic designer). Thanks for making me realise this about my own work. asca

I very much want to see a job posting that says “we’re a slow paced environment so please don’t apply if you prefer fast paced.”

Archiving this using #asca you can then find it on https://social.mariobreskic.de/; I will edit the entry myself as well, so that it persists in its totality https://x.com/MarioBreskic/status/1847397843083927602

Did some simple research about what turns out is called the “default mode network” in our brains, quizzing @MSFTCopilot. You can read this exchange below, on my arena account, and please do mind the comments I added to the file. https://are.na/block/31536061

This is a collaborative work in progress, as I am making my way through what seems to me to be a confused database: two of the books are not by the authors mentioned, and their ISBNs point to other books. I’ll add these findings to the comments as well.

Adding this thread starting from here to my social archive
I will first work through my study material, because otherwise I might never get back to DBN or #Processing. Small steps first #asca #studyinpublic https://x.com/MarioBreskic/status/1847270872324644991

if you keep track, I am a graphic designer, so I would assume that the MIT’s DBN (which is Processing’s “dad”) pointing towards Java would imply what I will further dig into both Java and Processing, long before I even touch anything close to OpenGL or WebGL →

because the last time I got into visual programming, that was ActionScript 2.0. But here’s the thing, when it comes to my own #computerLiteracy: I believe that I have a deeper, unaddressed interest in something like #vvvv, something like #openGL and #webGL →
If only because of having bought (and upgraded)

@Bleank’s BlackInk, while also having bought a shader plugin for Photoshop (this one https://hellmapper.itch.io/photoshop-shader-plugin) →
There is something there, something I have noticed twelve years ago while first working with #AfterEffects and its “Expressions“, as its called. I don’t think I am a programmer. But maybe I am a computational designer? I’ll watch this unfold. I’ll download the video and think.

Current state of my visual library, seen from inside Allusion.

The moon face eludes me, though. No idea who drew that.

Ich finde immer wieder neues zum Entpacken in diesem Posting. Ich halte das mal fest asca

Was fandest du denn gut, Johann?

Daher: schwierig!

    leatherandmossprints:

‘Nymphs and Satyr’ by William-Adolphe Bouguereau, c. 1873.

Most of his paintings are beautiful, yet to this one I must admit my own egotistical, naïve, and stupid attraction.

I would aspire to such a great work, and I feel I could never reach it.

But what if I tried anyway? Iʼve already admitted to my own egotism, havenʼt I? And nymphs and satyrs are the most fitting representations of our species in my eyes, truthful archetypes Bouguereau captured as representatives for the eroticism of both sexes.

These are so wild. Adding these to my visual library, too. Glad I had that nightmare about study wake me up, I came across Robert McCall on my tumblr that way, and now Roderick Fletcher Mead here! #asca https://x.com/cmkosemen/status/1846641021473468846

    art by Robert McCall

These need to be in my visual library. The brush strokes on the reef to the right in the underwater landscape are gorgeous. I need to study those later, as well as tag them in either Adobe Bridge or the freeware Allusion.

The slightest bit of research is needed then: like which year these are from, what they were for.

I want to further grow my visual library in two ways:

    • add what designs and artworks stuck with me for years
    • add what I came across and liked

Mapping out my mind, in a way.
