  • With Twitter working, I added Instagram as well, so what I have christened ACAS is working fine.
    See you in a couple of thousand hours again, since this is (just) preparation. I like doing things at room temperature, but it is still wild that this works as well as it does #acas

    It technically works, but between a workaround for adding hashtags from Twitter and automatically adding tags from this tumblr here, the post from Tumblr lost its tags.

    Adding the tags in the IFTTT recipe by hand first, and then have them processed into WordPress tags should work.

    Aside from embedding the image from tumblr instead of having it copied locally, it works so far.

    I am still trying to make the tags work, but I believe that getting that to work will consume 80% of the evening in order to add 20% of the functionality.

    So, what is certainly one of the few times in memory, I honestly decided against further investing time beyond this point.

    The archive works. No bells and no whistles.

    Pretty cool for a weekend project, right?

  • I am currently working on a sort of a public facing backbone archive for my social media, using WordPress.

    The main idea is to collect all of my social media posts from now on in one single place, so that we can have a social wall of basically everything.

    I think that each social media website provides a certain tone, which can add to our work.

    It basically works like this:

    my own posts on Tumblr (and maybe soon Instagram and Twitter, too) are being copied as native WordPress posts.

    Stay tuned, I think I will bash this one out in the next few hours.

    If all works out properly, you can watch things pop up on https://social.mariobreskic.de/ over the next few months.

    I have a need to build and learn in public. Always have. So I will do just that.

    Next on the list: my own website, and making a tumblr theme which works for me (I need a sidebar to just add tags to).

    I expect a lot of tweaking, in general, since what I want and need is usually something I can build with what I have.
